Temple Guard Reinforcement Stones: Drop Rates, Daily Caps and Where to Farm
Last updated: 9 September 2026
Players usually meet these as “temple stones” — the enhancement material that feeds Temple Guard gear, the second-strongest equipment tier on RiftMu. There are two of them, they drop on four maps, and both are hard-capped per character per day. This page is the numbers: what drops where, how much you can hold in a day, and the two quests that hand you a free stack before you ever farm one.
The two stones
| Stone | Item | Daily cap | What it feeds |
|---|---|---|---|
| [Bound] Temple Guard Reinforcement Stone | Cat 20 / 277 — the silver one | 500 / day | Temple Guard stage & level up |
| [Bound] Shining Temple Guard Reinforcement Stone | Cat 20 / 278 — the gold one | 150 / day | Temple Guard stage & level up |
The [Bound] prefix is not decoration. Both stones are locked to the character that picks them up: no trading, no personal store, and no account vault — you cannot even move them to another character on your own account. You can sell them to an NPC, and they stack 255 to an inventory slot. The in-game shop labels the same items “Upgrade Stone” rather than “Reinforcement Stone”; they are the same two items.
What they are for
Temple Guard is Legendary grade 1 gear — the rung directly below Imperial, and the point where the classic excellent options stop existing because the grade itself replaces them.
| Tier | 1-hand weapon damage | Armor defense | Required level |
|---|---|---|---|
| Temple Guard (grade 1) | 582–601 | 489 | 1500 |
| Imperial (grade 2) | 635–655 | 549 | 1600 |
Stones do not create a Temple Guard piece — the combine that builds the piece is covered in the Guardian & Mastery gear guide. Stones are what you spend after you own one, on the Legendary stage-up and level-up that sits on top of it. Those two operations are the only part of the system with published odds:
| Operation | Regular | Elite |
|---|---|---|
| Legendary stage up | 70% | 75% |
| Legendary level up | 70% | 75% |
Don’t confuse the 100% with the 70%
The Bloodangel → Imperial combine that builds each gear tier is a guaranteed 100% — that number is on the Guardian & Mastery gear guide and it is correct. The stone-driven stage and level up that runs on top of a finished Temple Guard piece is a different operation, and it is 70–75%. Both figures are pulled live from the server config on the Success Rates page.
How many stones a single attempt consumes, and what a failure costs you, are decided client-side rather than in the server settings we publish — the machine shows you the exact requirement when you load the item, so check there before you commit a stack.
Drop rates: the basic stone
These are per-kill chances, straight from the server drop table. No rate multiplier applies to them — what you see is the final number.
| Map | Monsters | Per kill |
|---|---|---|
| Raklion Of Oblivion | Elite Giant Mammoth / Giant / Iron Knight of Oblivion | 0.100% |
| Raklion Of Oblivion | Giant Mammoth / Giant / Iron Knight of Oblivion | 0.088% |
| Aquila’s Temple | Aquila Warrior / Gunner / Magician | 0.080% |
| Swamp Of Destruction | Shadow Master / Napin / Sapi Queen of Destruction | 0.053% |
| Kardamahal Underground Temple | Devil Sword / Devil Scythe / Devil Sorcerer | 0.039% |
Two things fall out of that table. Raklion Of Oblivion is the best farm on the server for this stone, and it is best twice over — its regular trio already beats every other map, and its Elite variants roll the top rate outright. And the Elite version of a monster always pays better than the regular one, so a map where Elites are up is worth more than the same map when they are not.
Separately from the map table, the Elite Devil Sword, Devil Scythe and Devil Sorcerer carry the basic stone in their own kill bag at 4% per bag — and because that bag itself only fires on 90% of kills, roughly 3.6% per kill. That is two orders of magnitude above the map rate, so if you see one, kill it.
Drop rates: the Shining stone
The gold stone is much narrower — two maps, and nothing else drops it anywhere on the server.
| Map | Monsters | Per kill |
|---|---|---|
| Raklion Of Oblivion | Elite Giant Mammoth / Giant / Iron Knight of Oblivion | 0.056% |
| Raklion Of Oblivion | Giant Mammoth / Giant / Iron Knight of Oblivion | 0.027% |
| Aquila’s Temple | Aquila Warrior / Gunner / Magician | 0.022% |
Roughly: on the same monster the Shining stone lands about a third as often as the basic one, and its daily cap is under a third the size. Raklion is the answer for both stones, which makes the farming plan simple — there is only one map you actually need.
The daily cap, and why it bites harder than it reads
500 basic and 150 Shining per character per day is not a soft target. The server counts stones against the character that obtains them, and once you are at the cap:
- They stop dropping for you entirely — not “drop but vanish”, they simply stop.
- You cannot pick up someone else’s. A stone that dropped for a party member is not lootable by a capped character.
The counter resets once a day, and also on login if a day has passed since your last reset. Two practical consequences: there is no point grinding Raklion past your cap, and because the cap is per character rather than per account, a second character is the only way to farm more in one day — but bound stones cannot be moved between your characters, so that second character has to be the one that actually wants the gear.
The free stack: two Guide Quests
Before you farm a single stone, the Guide Quest track hands you a starting pile. Both are one-time, per character, and both are ten kills.
| Quest | Level | Kill | Stone reward | Also pays |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dark Knights of the Deep Dungeon | 330 | 10× Deep Dungeon Dark Knight (Deep Dungeon 5) | 20× Temple Guard Reinforcement Stone | Temple Guard Anvil, 10× Elite Guardian Enhanced, 405,000,000 EXP |
| Wooden Beasts of the Darkness Swamp | 345 | 10× Wooden Beast | 10× Shining Temple Guard Reinforcement Stone | Temple Guard Soul, 3× Guardian Elite Opt Change Seal |
Twenty basic stones for ten kills is worth thousands of Raklion kills at 0.1% — these two quests are far and away the cheapest stones you will ever get. Use the quest’s own warp button rather than walking, and never press Give Up on a Guide Quest: it is permanent and pays nothing.
The Imperial tier repeats the same pattern two quests later, at levels 360 and 375, paying 20× and 10× the Imperial Upgrade Stones.
Other ways to get them
- The in-game shop sells both stones in bundles, for WCoin or Goblin Points. WCoin is earned by playing — it is not a website purchase, and the website does not sell these bundles.
- The MU Pass pays Imperial Upgrade Stones on its Premium track, but it does not currently pay Temple Guard stones on any track. If you are working on Temple Guard specifically, the pass is not a source.
The actual farming plan
- Clear both Guide Quests at level 330 and 345. Thirty stones, no farming.
- Farm Raklion Of Oblivion, and only Raklion. It is the top rate for both stones, and the only map that drops the Shining one alongside the basic one at a competitive rate.
- Prioritise Elites wherever they are up — they pay the top rate on the map, and Elite Devils carry a ~3.6% kill-bag chance that dwarfs everything else.
- Stop at your cap. 500 and 150. Past that, Raklion pays you nothing in stones.
- Check the requirement before you spend. Stage up and level up run at 70–75%, so budget stones for misses, not just for the steps.
Every rate on this page comes from the same server files the Item Hunt reads, so if a number is ever retuned, the item pages update with it.
FAQ
What is the Temple Guard Reinforcement Stone drop rate?
The basic stone tops out at 0.100% per kill on the Elite monsters of Raklion Of Oblivion, then 0.088% on Raklion’s regular trio, 0.080% in Aquila’s Temple, 0.053% in Swamp Of Destruction and 0.039% in Kardamahal Underground Temple. The Shining version drops on two maps only: 0.056% on Raklion’s Elites, 0.027% on Raklion’s regular trio and 0.022% in Aquila’s Temple.
Is there a daily limit on Temple Guard stones?
Yes. Each character can obtain 500 Temple Guard Reinforcement Stones and 150 Shining ones per day. Once you hit the cap the stones stop dropping for you entirely, and you cannot pick up one that dropped for someone else. The counter resets daily, and also on login if a day has passed.
Can Temple Guard Reinforcement Stones be traded?
No. Both stones are bound to the character that picks them up — no trade, no personal store, and no account vault, so you cannot even move them to another character on your own account. They can be sold to an NPC, and they stack 255 to a slot.
