Guardian Items and Mastery Gear: RiftMu's Season 21 Endgame Lines

Last updated: 12 July 2026

Two separate gear systems carry RiftMu's endgame: Guardian items - pet-tier equipment built and upgraded through its own creation chain - and the Mastery gear line, the long armor-and-weapon ladder that runs from Bloodangel all the way to Imperial. Season 21 added an 8th Guardian and pushed the level cap to 1800; this guide covers how to actually build and climb both lines. For the full rundown of what else Season 21 Part 2-3 changed, see the Season 21 Part 2-3 news article.

Guardian items: create, level, upgrade

A Guardian item has three stages: you create the base item, level it up from +0 to +15, then upgrade it into the next Guardian tier entirely (Ghost Horse, Ice Dragon, Pierce Lion and further chains, each with a rarer variant). Here's what each stage actually costs you in risk:

StageSuccess rateOn fail
Level up (every step, +0 through +15)80%Drop 1 level - never destroyed, never reset to +0
Upgrade to next Guardian tier (13 chains)70% – 100%, rising with input level-
Pet creation / evolution70%-

Every level-up step is the same 80%

Unlike some upgrade ladders that get harder near the top, Guardian item leveling holds a flat 80% success rate from +0 all the way to +15, and a failed attempt only costs you one level - it's designed to be a steady climb, not a late-game wall.

Mastery gear: Bloodangel to Imperial

This is the big one - the armor and weapon progression line most RiftMu characters chase for their final set. Eleven tiers, each combined from the one before it:

Bloodangel Darkangel Holyangel Blue Eye Silver Heart Manticore Brilliant Apocalypse Lightning Temple Guard Imperial

Here's the part most players don't expect: the standard combination at every single step of that chain is a guaranteed 100% success.

CombinationSuccess rate
Standard gear combination (entire Bloodangel → Imperial line)100%
Random Blood Angel piece (helm / armor / pants / gloves / boots)70%
Earring level up (by input tier)70% – 100%

If the standard recipe is guaranteed, your real bottleneck the whole way up is materials and Zen, not RNG - budget your time around farming, not around retrying a failed combine. The one exception is the Random Blood Angel Part recipe, a cheaper alternate path that hands you a random helm, armor, pants, gloves or boots piece instead of a specific one - useful early, but it does carry a real 30% fail chance.

Level 380 reforge (Season 21)

A newer system for rerolling the bonus option on level-380 gear - swords, staffs, helms and full sets across several class-specific lines. Unlike the Mastery line, this one does scale with your item's current level:

Item levelSuccess rate
1-670%
7-970%
10-1370%
14-1580%

Every figure on this page is pulled live from the server config on the Success Rates page - if any of these numbers get retuned, that page (and the links above) update automatically.

Quick recap

  1. Guardian items: create the base, then grind the +0 to +15 ladder at a flat 80% - a miss only costs you 1 level, never the whole item.
  2. Mastery gear: the standard Bloodangel → Imperial combine is 100% guaranteed - farm materials and Zen, not luck.
  3. Level 380 reforge: reroll bonus options at 70-80% depending on the item's current level.
  4. Check Item Hunt for exactly where every material in this guide drops.

FAQ

What happens if a Guardian item level-up fails?

Your item drops back by 1 level - it is never destroyed and never resets all the way to +0. Combined with an 80% success rate at every step, the level-up ladder is built to be worked through steadily rather than gambled on.

Is the Bloodangel to Imperial line random?

No. The standard combination at every step of the Mastery gear line - Bloodangel, Darkangel, Holyangel, Blue Eye, Silver Heart, Manticore, Brilliant, Apocalypse, Lightning, Temple Guard and Imperial - is a guaranteed 100% success. What gates your progress is materials and Zen, not luck.

What is the Level 380 reforge?

A Season 21 system for rerolling the bonus option on a level-380 weapon or armor piece. The success rate depends on the item's current level, from 70% on lower levels up to 80% at levels 14-15.
