Class Quests: The Evolution Chain Every Character Climbs

Last updated: 10 July 2026

Your class is not finished at character creation — it evolves through quest-gated stages, each unlocking a new class name, new skills and eventually the Master Skill Tree. On RiftMu there are two ways up the chain: the classic quests below, or the shortcut — /evoquest, RiftMu’s fast class-upgrade command — which exists because on a 5000x server you out-level the quest content long before you finish walking to it. Knowing both is still worth five minutes: the chain explains what your class window is showing you, and the classic route still holds items and Zen.

The evolution stages [Official structure]

StageClassic triggerWhat it does
2nd class (e.g. Dark Knight → Blade Knight)Level 150 quest: bring a class-specific proof item (Scroll of Emperor / Broken Sword era items) to the quest NPC in DeviasNew class name, expanded skills, +stat points reward.
3rd class (e.g. Blade Knight → Blade Master)Level 220 quest chain via Marlon and the “Certificate of Strength” trials in Barracks/Refuge of BalgassThe big one: unlocks the class’s ultimate identity and, at 400, master leveling.
4th stage / Majestic-era evolutionLater-season quest chains at the master-level frontierSeason 16+ content: the Majestic tiers that extend the master tree on modern files.

Exact item names and NPC steps vary slightly by season and class family — the in-game quest window (and your class page on our class overview) reflects what the Season 21 files actually ask of your character. Classes born in later seasons (Grow Lancer onward) use compressed chains: they skip legacy stages the older classes walked through.

The RiftMu way: /evoquest

Type /evoquest in game to fast-track your class evolution when you meet the stage’s requirements. That is the entire guide to the command — which is the point. Use it the moment a stage unlocks, because an un-evolved character at high level is leaving skills, stat rewards and (at the final stage) the entire master tree switched off. It is on the commands & hotkeys reference alongside everything else.

Why bother knowing the classic quests at all?

  • Quest items are tradeable loot. Scroll of Emperor-tier proof items drop while you farm and sell to players who want the classic route (or newer servers’ collectors). Free Zen.
  • The chain explains locked things. A skill that will not learn, a master tree that will not open, a class name that looks “wrong” on the rankings — nine times out of ten the character simply has not evolved.
  • Reset interaction: class evolution persists through resets — you evolve once per stage per character, not once per reset (see the reset guide for what resets do and do not recycle).

Common mistakes

  • Grinding to 400 un-evolved. The 3rd-class stage is the gateway to master leveling; hitting 400 without it wastes every kill past the cap. Check your class window today.
  • Selling class proof items as vendor trash. Check world chat prices first; other players’ alts want them.
  • Assuming every class has the same chain. Later-season classes (see classes by season) compress or skip stages; the quest window is authoritative for yours.
