Ruud: The Endgame Currency and the Gear Ladder It Buys

Last updated: 10 July 2026

Ruud is the master-era currency: where jewels run the open market, Ruud runs the personal gear ladder — you earn it by playing endgame content and spend it at the Ruud shop (Priest James) on the angel-gear lines that define post-400 power [Official system, Season 10+]. It is account-bound progress in a tradeable-economy game, which changes how you should think about every Ruud decision: no market can rescue a bad spending order.

Where Ruud comes from

The official-era sources, in rough order of reliability [Official; per-venue amounts are server-tuned everywhere]:

  • Instanced events — the Blood Castle / Devil Square / Chaos Castle family pays Ruud on modern files; on RiftMu all three run daily (live schedule, and the Devil Square and Blood Castle guides cover clearing them fast).
  • Boss content — world boss events are the other pillar; RiftMu’s Boss Battle Together windows open every four hours.
  • Master-map elite content — elite zones and later-season venues (Ferea, Nixies Lake era onward) contribute as you push the 400+ map belt.
  • What does not pay Ruud on RiftMu: Grand Resets — verified against the server’s configuration, GR rewards are Grand Reset Points only (no Ruud component). Ruud is earned in the field here, not through the reset counter.

Exact per-run amounts vary by event tier and server tuning; run each venue once and note the payout — ten minutes of logging beats any stale table, and the in-game Ruud balance (shop window) is the ledger.

The angel gear ladder

The Ruud shop sells class-specific set lines in strict tiers [Official ladder]. The names to know, bottom to top of the modern era:

TierSet lineEra / role
1Blood AngelThe entry tier — and on RiftMu’s Speed Realm, your starting inventory already contains it: the realm boots you onto the ladder’s first rung.
2Dark AngelThe mid ladder; each tier typically requires or consumes the previous line plus Ruud.
3Holy Angel
4Soul / Blue SoulThe late-classic Ruud era.
5+Silver Heart, Manticore, Brilliant and the Season 19–21 linesThe current top of the ladder on Season 21 files — multi-month goals for active endgame players.

Weapons follow a parallel Ruud track (Bloodangel weapons onward). The in-game shop shows the exact prices and prerequisites your realm runs — the ladder’s structure is universal, the price tags are local.

The spending order that does not waste months

  1. Weapon before armor. The Ruud weapon uplift accelerates every future Ruud-earning run; armor mostly makes runs comfortable. Earning rate compounds, comfort does not.
  2. Complete a tier before starting the next. Set effects and upgrade paths assume complete lines; a half-Dark-Angel wardrobe is Blood Angel power at Dark Angel prices.
  3. Do not skip tiers even when you can afford to. Higher lines typically consume the previous tier as material [Official pattern] — “saving up to skip” usually means paying for the skipped tier anyway, later, at a worse moment.
  4. Mind the master tree in parallel. Ruud gear and master levels are the two endgame tracks; when damage plateaus, diagnose which track is behind before spending on the wrong one.

Common mistakes

  • Hoarding Ruud for the top tier from day one. Months of running content in entry gear to eventually buy gear you no longer need at that strength. Climb, don’t leap.
  • Spreading Ruud across alt characters early. Ruud income scales with your strongest character’s clear speed; feed the main until it farms the top venues comfortably.
  • Ignoring the event calendar. Ruud income is event-shaped on RiftMu (BC/DS/CC daily, boss windows every 4 hours) — playing “whenever” forfeits the densest income of the day. The event schedule guide shows how to plan around it.
  • Forgetting the upgrade layers. Ruud gear still takes plus levels and harmony refinement — a bare top-tier set loses to a finished mid-tier one.
