Jewel of Harmony: The Refinement Layer Most Players Skip
Last updated: 10 July 2026
Harmony is the option layer that goes on top of whatever gear philosophy you already chose — Excellent, Ancient or socket — one extra rollable option per item, upgradeable in strength. It is chronically skipped because it arrived mid-history (Season 3–4 era) and its early version was clunky; modern files run the renewal version, which is cleaner and stronger, and RiftMu’s Season 21 files run exactly that (the renewal option tables are in the server’s own data). If your gear is settling into its endgame shape, harmony is among the cheapest damage/tankiness you have not claimed yet.
How the system works
- Get Jewels of Harmony. They drop as Gemstones in specific content and are refined into usable jewels [Official]; on any server, the drop venues are the part to confirm locally — check world chat or Discord for where Gemstones fall on RiftMu today.
- Apply to an item. The jewel rolls one harmony option from the item type’s pool (weapon pool for weapons, armor pool for armor). You cannot pick — you roll, keep, or re-roll by overwriting.
- Upgrade the option’s level. Higher-level harmony options give bigger numbers, consuming upgrade materials (Refining Stones in the classic flow) [Official]. Strength scales with the option level, not the item’s plus level.
- Removal exists via the restoration flow if you need the slot back clean [Official].
The renewal option pools RiftMu runs
Straight from the server’s harmony tables — the pools you are actually rolling from:
| Slot family | Options in the pool (selection) |
|---|---|
| Weapons (physical) | Attack Power Increase, Skill Attack Power Increase, Attack Success Rate Increase, Critical Damage Increase, Excellent Damage Increase, SD Ratio Increase, 5% of Mana Converted to Attack |
| Weapons (magic/curse) | Wizardry Attack Power Increase, Curse Damage Increase, 5% of Mana Converted to Magic Attack Power, Convert 5% of Mana to Curse Damage, Skill Attack Power Increase |
| Armor pieces | Defense Increase, Damage Reduction Increase, Maximum HP Increase, Maximum MP Increase, Maximum AG Increase, Automatic Life Recovery Increase, Automatic Mana Increase, SD Reduction Rate Increase, Item Durability Increase, Convert 10% of Mana to Life |
| Stat grants (various slots) | Strength / Agility / Vitality / Energy Stat Increase |
Which rolls to keep (and which to overwrite)
- Weapons: Skill Attack Power and flat Attack/Wizardry Power are the universal keeps — they scale your actual damage dealer. Attack Success Rate is a PvP-flavored keep (it fights high-AGI defense stacks — see the PvP guide). Mana-to-attack conversions suit high-ENE builds specifically.
- Armor: Damage Reduction > Defense for PvP survivability (percent beats flat as numbers inflate); Maximum HP is the safe universal; SD options matter for duel-format players.
- Stat grants: valuable only until the 60,000 cap is in sight for that stat (stats explained) — late Grand-Reset characters overwrite these.
- Rule of thumb: keep percent-scaling and build-critical rolls; overwrite flat stats you will cap anyway. Harmony jewels are farmable; your time re-rolling mid junk is the real cost.
Where harmony sits in the investment order
After your weapon’s plus level and wings tier, before the last socket-ladder gambles: harmony’s early option levels are cheap relative to what they add, and unlike machine gambles the jewel application itself does not destroy the item. Sequence per the what-to-upgrade-first guide: harmony refinement is its “free-points sweep” stage once each gear piece stabilizes. Do not harmony-invest in gear you will replace next reset cycle.
Common mistakes
- Harmony on transitional gear. The option dies with the item you replace in three days. Stabilize first.
- Keeping the first roll out of loss aversion. The pools above show what you could have; overwrite until the roll serves the build.
- Upgrading a mediocre option to high levels. Upgrade materials on a wrong option are the expensive way to keep a mistake. Re-roll first, then upgrade the right one.
- Forgetting harmony exists on replacement gear. Every new endgame piece has an empty harmony slot — sweep it.
