RiftMu Wipe Policy: What “Permanent” Means Here

Last updated: 10 July 2026

The policy in one paragraph: the Permanent Realm is never wiped and never closes — it is the world your progress is supposed to outlive everything else on. The Speed Realm is openly seasonal: it runs for a few weeks and then closes, and you export up to 2 characters per account to the Permanent Realm instead of losing them. And when whole legacy worlds ended in 2026, they were merged with GP reimbursed, not deleted. Wipe policy is the criterion players check too late; this page exists so you can check it first.

The two-realm design, and why it protects your time

Most wipes in this scene are not accidents — they are a business model. Fresh starts sell, so servers relaunch and your character is the cost [Common on private servers]. RiftMu splits the two desires into two worlds so neither cannibalizes the other:

The current lineup and rates are always on the realm overview; the current Speed Realm season (Summer Edition) opened on 10 July 2026.

How the season-end export works

  1. When a Speed Realm season enters its closing phase, the character-export tool opens on the website (it stays disabled mid-season — if you cannot see it yet, the season is still running).
  2. You pick up to 2 characters on your account. The export copies them to the Permanent Realm through the account panel.
  3. Exports are per account, not per character slot — choose the two that carry the most value.

The merge record: what we did when it actually happened

Policies are promises; here is the precedent. The network behind RiftMu previously operated five worlds — FuryMU, RichMU, VoltMU, SilverMU and the original RiftMu world. In 2026 they were consolidated into today’s Permanent Realm. Two things about how that was done:

  • GP balances were reimbursed. Donations did not evaporate with the old worlds.
  • The history stayed public. Each legacy world keeps an honest historical page on the servers hub stating it was merged — no quiet rebranding, no pretending they never existed.

What this policy does not cover (honesty section)

  • Technical rollbacks are not wipes. Like every online game, a critical exploit or corruption incident could force restoring from a backup. That is incident response, hours-scale, announced — not a reset of the world. No server can honestly promise zero rollbacks ever.
  • “Forever” means design intent, not physics. A server that guarantees eternity is on our impossible-promises list. What we commit to: the Permanent Realm is never wiped as a policy or business decision, and if the network ever consolidates again, the merge-and-reimburse precedent above is the template.
  • Seasonal items and balances: the export moves characters; check the export tool’s notes for what accompanies them during a specific season’s closing. GP is web-level currency and transferable between the network’s realms via the GP transfer service (10% fee), so it is not trapped on a closing world — see the donation policy.

How to hold any server (including us) to a wipe policy

From our own selection checklist: a trustworthy permanence claim is written, specific (which worlds, what happens to characters and purchases), and backed by history. Search any server’s name plus “wipe” before investing; a pattern of relaunches predicts the future better than any promise. You have just read ours; the history is one search away.

Frequently asked questions

Does the RiftMu Permanent Realm ever wipe?
No. The Permanent Realm is designed to stay online indefinitely and is never reset. That permanence is its identity - the seasonal Speed Realm exists precisely so that fresh-start gameplay never requires touching the permanent world.
What happens to my Speed Realm characters when the season ends?
You export up to 2 characters per account to the Permanent Realm. The export tool on the website opens when a season enters its closing phase.
What happened to players on the old merged servers?
FuryMU, RichMU, VoltMU, SilverMU and the original RiftMu world were merged into the Permanent Realm in 2026, and donation balances (GP) were reimbursed rather than lost.
