Arca War Guide: Alkmaar, Ubaid and Debenter Zone Battles

Last updated: 10 July 2026

Arca War is a recurring guild battle fought over three Acheron-continent zones - Alkmaar, Ubaid and Debenter - where guilds compete for control of each zone's obelisk [Official system; private schedules vary]. On RiftMu it runs several times per week, and every upcoming battle is listed on the live events page with automatic timezone conversion.

What Arca War is

Arca War arrived with the Acheron continent in the Season 9 era of MU Online [Official], and it has stayed in the rotation ever since because it fills a gap between casual PK and the weekly Castle Siege. Where Castle Siege is one enormous battle for one castle, Arca War is a shorter, more frequent contest over three separate territories, so smaller and mid-sized guilds get real chances to win something without dethroning the top siege alliance.

The event is tied to the Gens system, MU's two-faction structure of Duprian and Vanert [Official]. In the official design your guild's Gens allegiance is part of who you can fight and register alongside; the practical takeaway on RiftMu is simple - sort out your guild's Gens membership before war day, not five minutes before the gate opens.

How zone marking and winning works

The core loop is obelisk control [Official basics - exact rules vary by season and server]:

  1. Registration. The guild master signs the guild up for the war during the registration window. Members need to meet the entry requirements shown in the in-game war window - check it on RiftMu rather than assuming another server's rules.
  2. The war opens. Registered guilds enter the contested zones. Each of the three zones - Alkmaar, Ubaid and Debenter - has its own obelisk and is effectively its own battlefield.
  3. Marking the obelisk. A guild claims a zone by taking and holding its obelisk. Rival guilds can contest the claim, so a mark you cannot defend is worth nothing.
  4. Winning. When the war timer ends, the guild in control of a zone's obelisk wins that zone.

Because each zone resolves separately, the meta-question every war is the same: do you concentrate your whole guild on one obelisk you can actually hold, or spread across two and risk holding neither? For most guilds the honest answer is one zone, played well.

Alkmaar

Alkmaar plays as a gloomy lowland where fights funnel along a few crossings. Pushes here reward patience: poke with ranged classes - Elf arrows, wizard spells - until the defenders crack, then commit the frontline through the choke as one group. A guild that commits piecemeal into a held crossing feeds kills.

Ubaid

Ubaid's broken desert ruins create natural walls and short sightlines. This is brawler territory: Dark Knights, Rage Fighters, Illusion Knights and Crusaders can force close-range fights around corners where enemy ranged damage never gets a clean cast. Area-of-effect skills clear stacked defenders out of doorway chokes.

Debenter

Debenter's open rocky stretches give mobile and ranged squads room to work. Kiting compositions shine - hit the obelisk's defenders, fade, re-engage from a new angle. Watch your flanks constantly; the same open ground that lets you kite lets an enemy guild loop behind you.

Guild prep and timing

  • Know the schedule cold. RiftMu runs Arca War several times per week and the events page converts every start time to your local timezone. Post the next two or three war times in your guild notice so nobody does the mental math wrong.
  • Confirm the roster a day ahead. Ten players who show up on time beat twenty maybes. Use the guild chat (type with @) and alliance chat (@@) to lock in attendance, and the F4/F5 hotkeys to keep the chat window handy mid-fight.
  • Pick one shot-caller. Obelisk fights are won by synchronized target calls and rotations. Two people calling is the same as zero people calling.
  • Arrive stocked and early. Full potions, buffs assigned, and everyone at the entry point before the registration window closes - not teleporting in from a Blood Castle run as the war starts.
  • Scout the opposition. If a stronger guild always takes Ubaid, contest Alkmaar or Debenter instead. Winning an uncontested zone beats losing a famous one.

Rewards and the Gens connection

In the official design, holding an Arca zone grants the winning guild zone-linked benefits and standing until the next war [Official basics; exact rewards vary by server]. On RiftMu, events are also a WCoins source - WCoins drop from events and bosses - so regular war attendance feeds your in-game currency alongside the territorial bragging rights. For the current reward specifics, watch the in-game announcements around each war rather than trusting recycled patch notes from other servers.

The Gens factions add a longer game on top: Duprian and Vanert membership [Official] shapes who your natural allies are across repeated wars. A guild that coordinates with same-faction guilds - splitting zones by agreement instead of fighting each other - wins more over a month than one that treats all three zones as solo objectives.

Common mistakes

  • Missing the registration window. No registered guild master, no war. Assign a backup plan for the days the guild master cannot be online.
  • Splitting across all three zones. Unless you field siege-level numbers, spreading thin means marking obelisks you cannot defend. Hold one zone properly.
  • Ignoring Gens. Turning up with members whose faction status blocks entry wastes a war. Verify Duprian or Vanert membership before war day.
  • Fighting on the enemy's terrain terms. Chasing kiters across open Debenter with a melee squad, or trading poke in Alkmaar chokes against a ranged core, loses fights your composition should win elsewhere.
  • Marking early and celebrating. The obelisk only counts when the timer ends. The last five minutes are where prepared guilds steal zones from complacent ones.
  • Reading rules from other servers. Arca War details shift between seasons and private implementations. RiftMu's in-game war window and the events page are the sources that count here.
